A spacesuit is used to protect humans alive and well in the harsh environment of space. Spacesuits are either worn inside the spaceship as a safety precaution in case of loss of pressure in the cabin and spacesuits are worn outside of the spaceship. A fully equipped spacesuit used during spacewalks is actually a miniature spaceship shaped like a human body that protects astronauts from the hazards of being outside of a rocket either in orbit or on the Moon. Astronauts on spacewalks are exposed to radiation, smoke, debris, and high temperatures. Temperatures on spacewalks could range from minus 250 degrees Fahrenheit to 250 degrees Fahrenheit in direct sunlight. The suits maintain body pressure to provide astronauts with water to drink and oxygen to breathe. The pressure garment and the life support system are the two primary components of a spacewalk spacesuit. The pressure garment is the part of the spacesuit that covers the body while still allowing movement. The cooling garment, upper torso, lower torso, and helmet are the main components of the pressure garment. With the rise in space missions; the demand for astronaut spacesuits is set to increase.
