About Shoulder Impingement Syndrome
Shoulder impingement happens when the acromion, the upper outer edge of the shoulder blade, brushes against (or "impinges on") or pinches the rotator cuff beneath it, resulting in discomfort and suffering. People who participate in sports and other activities that require a lot of overhead rotational motion, such as swimming, baseball, volleyball, and tennis, as well as tasks like window washing and painting, are more likely to get shoulder impingement syndrome. Injuries like falls directly onto the shoulder or onto an outstretched arm can also cause shoulder impingement. Bursitis and rotator cuff tendonitis, two other prevalent causes of pain in the shoulder, are closely associated to shoulder impingement. Both of these circumstances are possible.
