About Aircraft Jet fuel
The jet fuel is a well-defined classification of aviation fuel designed specifically for feeding jet engines for commercial, military, or private planes. High-perfomance fuel is refined from petroleum, which is formulated to comply with stringent standards with regard to energy content, combustion efficiency, and temperature stability. Among the jet fuels, Jet A and Jet A-1 are the types most commonly put to use in practice. Due to the lower freezing point of Jet A-1, it has been adopted by international standards for use on long-haul, high-altitude flights. In order to maintain reliable performance within a wide spectrum of environments-low temperatures during the cruise and high thermal stress inside the engine-complete fuels must be purposely formulated to include additives that prevent icing, control static electricity, and improve combustion performance. Jet fuel is designed to allow turbines to conduct efficient and reliable operations, which promote safe and powerful means of propulsion. Jet fuel also significantly influences the weight and range of an aircraft, being one of the heaviest consumables on board.
