About G-Protein Coupled Receptors
G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR), also called seven-trans membrane receptor or heptahelical receptor, is a protein located in the cell membrane that binds extracellular substances and transmits signals from these substances to an intracellular molecule called a G protein (guanine nucleotide-binding protein). GPCRs are found in the cell membranes of a wide range of organisms, including mammals, plants, microorganisms, and invertebrates. G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), also known as 7TM receptors, heptahelical receptors, serpentine receptors, and G protein-linked receptors (GPLR), are cell surface receptors that detect molecules outside the cell and activate cellular responses. They are known as seven-transmembrane receptors because they pass through the cell membrane seven times when they bind to G proteins. Ligands can bind to the extracellular N-terminus and loops of proteins (for example, glutamate receptors) or to the binding site within transmembrane helices (Rhodopsin-like family). Agonists activate all of them, though spontaneous auto-activation of an empty receptor has been observed. Only eukaryotes, including yeast, choanoflagellates, and animals, have G protein-coupled receptors.

Segmentation Overview
AMA Research has segmented the market of Global G-Protein Coupled Receptors market by Type (Cell Lines, Detection Kits, Cell Culture Reagents and Ligands), Application (Cancer Research, CNS Research, Metabolic Research, Cardiovascular Research, Respiratory Research, Inflammation Research and Other Application) and Region.

On the basis of geography, the market of G-Protein Coupled Receptors has been segmented into South America (Brazil, Argentina, Rest of South America), Asia Pacific (China, Japan, India, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Rest of Asia-Pacific), Europe (Germany, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Rest of Europe), MEA (Middle East, Africa), North America (United States, Canada, Mexico). If we see Market by Assay, the sub-segment i.e. CAMP Functional Assays will boost the G-Protein Coupled Receptors market. Additionally, the rising demand from SMEs and various industry verticals gives enough cushion to market growth.

Influencing Trend:
Oncology is dominating the GPCR market in terms of therapeutic areas

Market Growth Drivers:
Existence of variety of agents that stimulate GPCR activity and Increasing number of allosteric modulators, biological drugs and blased agonists that target this receptions

Challenges:
Hazardous effects of cryogenic gases and Complexity of the cryotherapy mechanisms

Restraints:
High cost involved in the maintenance of GPCR cell lines and Stringent government regulations

Opportunities:
Rising preference for minimally invasive techniques and Advancement in technology of cryotherapy equipment

Amgen's erenumab secured the FDA approval as the first G-protein coupled receptor-targeted antibody. Despite various challenges, several biologics are under the manufacturing process.
In the most cases the functional role of regulation via GRK-dependent phosphorylation remains poorly understood, the mere number of targets suggests that, in addition to playing the key role in controlling the GPCR signaling, GRKs might play important roles in cell growth, attachment and motility, cell death, proliferation and survival, immunity, cancer, as well as other pathological conditions. One example of such regulation is GRK5-dependent phosphorylation of class II histone deacetylase 5 , which plays a role in pathological cardiac hypertrophy. Another interesting substrate of GRK-dependent phosphorylation is the synuclein family comprising α-, β-, and γ-synucleins, small proteins with poorly defined functions.
