On 31 May 2018, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. have mutually launched the most advanced SOx abatement system, ACTIVE FUNNEL. It is a funnel which contains an optimally shaped exhaust gas scrubbing structure which decreases sulfur dioxide (SO2) in the exhaust gas of 3.5% sulfur content fuels to that of 0.1% sulfur content fuels, conforming with newly introduced SOx emissions regulations coming into effect worldwide as of Jan. 1, 2020. and On 19 Oct. 2017, Clean Marine, a market leader in the development of Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems, has secured a multi-vessel contract from Inventor Chemical Tankers AS (ICT). The contract, covering seven 19900 DWT chemical tankers, marks the launch of the company’s revolutionary CleanSOx Compact Hybrid Allstream scrubber to the market.
