About Hay
Hay is a dried grass, legumes, or other herbaceous plants which is used as an animal fodder. It is fed to large grazing and animals as well as smaller domesticated animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs. As the plants advance in maturity the protein content decreases and lignified tissue increases. Hence it is cut at the correct stage to retain the leaves and nutrients. Hay is harvested when the head of the seed is not quite ripe and grass is mowed in the field. It is dried in a small piles or stack in the field and can be stored for months with less than 20% moisture. These factors and applications are increasing the demand for Hay which is propelling the market growth.
