What is Fiber Optic Gyroscopes?
Fiber Optic Gyroscopes are equipment or devices that detects changes in position or direction using the Sagnac effect. An optical gyro works similarly to a mechanical gyro in this way. The optical gyro, on the other hand, works by utilising light that passes through a coil of optical fibre. A spooled-up optical fibre transports laser light pulses within a standard optical gyroscope. Some pulses move in a clockwise direction, whereas others move in a counter clockwise direction. The gyro detects minute variations in how these pulses arrive at a sensor to determine rotation. Researchers have attempted to make optical gyros that are smaller. The signals from the gyro's sensor, on the other hand, have been weaker as the gyro's size has shrunk, until they are drowned out by noise from dispersed light.
