What is Antimalarial Drug Market?

Malaria is a very highly infectious disease, which usually spreads through a bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito, by transferring parasites into the human body. Furthermore, these parasites then lodge into the liver cells where they can easily multiply and grow. They then move towards the red blood cells to reach a stage commonly called merozoites. These merozoites further grow inside the red blood cells and then destroy them which further causes the symptoms such as tiredness, fever, vomiting, and headache. In addition, to these, the drugs that are usually used for the treatment and prevention of malarial infection are known as antimalarial drugs. Antimalarial drugs are such agents that are commonly used for treating malaria. If at all an infected anopheles mosquito bites a healthy person, then the infection of a definite protozoan is transmitted into the person. Malaria can be therefore prevented by the usage of the antimalarial drugs in the form of a prophylactic measure before entering into an endemic area. Different antimalarial drugs are used for the various stages of the complete life cycle of the parasite. Some of the antimalarial drugs are very effective against the acute attack of malaria, while some of them are used as prophylactic agents that help in killing the parasite when it enters into the host body. A combination of the drugs are also available for the treatment of malaria. There are various types of drugs, like quinine, proguanil, chloroquine, pyrimethamine, mefloquine, and others, that are available in the market for the purpose of treatment of the malarial infection.
