About Isobutane
Isobutane is a chemical compound. It's a kind of butane isomer. Isobutane is a gas that is colourless and odourless. With a tertiary carbon atom, it is the most basic alkane. It is transported as a liquefied gas at atmospheric pressure. Frostbite can be caused by coming into contact with the liquid. It is easily combustible. Isobutane has extensive applications across numerous industrial domains, which has been primary reason for its exponential growth over the years. Largely Isobutane is used in petrochemical industry such as a feedstock for alkylation units in refineries to generate alkylate, an important high-octane component of gasoline that also helps to reduce the volatility of motor gasoline. It is also high in demand among rubber tire manufacturers due to lower resistance to liquids and gas. Other than that, Isobutane is also explored for its use in cosmetic products in place of CFC’s. North Asia Pacific is emerging as the fastest growing market due to rapid industrialisation in China and India.
